Vako Kirkitadze
STORYTELLER
Creator • Writer • Director • Producer

Vako Kirkitadze is a Georgian filmmaker based in New York City working internationally. His work moves between European arthouse sensibility and American-scale storytelling, combining restraint with narrative ambition.
He is the creator of the largest and most influential television series in Georgia, a project that redefined local television in scope, authorship, and cultural impact. Alongside television, he directs feature films, short films, and commercials, navigating fluidly between intimate storytelling and large-scale production.
Coming from a multi-generational family of artists, Vako’s relationship to cinema began early. His grandfather screened 16mm films without sound and performed the dialogue live, synchronizing voice and image by instinct alone an experience that shaped his belief that meaning must emerge from close attention to the image.
His early work received international recognition, including a Student Academy Award nomination representing Georgia, selections at international film festivals, and awards, including Best Filmmaker at a New York film festival. He has also directed commercial work for global brands including McDonald’s, American Express, and Google Pay.
Across formats, his work is built around visual storytelling, combining cinematic craft with clarity and strong visual impact.
